‘Destiny 2’ Update: Masterwork Armor, Raid Reward Changes Coming This Month

Bungie is releasing several “Destiny 2” updates this year that it has decided to outline them in a lengthy post. For the month of January, fans should look forward to the addition of the Masterwork Armor and the updated Raid rewards. The developer also set the record straight about the different content categories of the game.

On Thursday, “Destiny 2” game director Christopher Barrett took the time to write in full detail the development update that fans should watch out for this 2018. “The team has been hard at work and we’re ready to share where we are headed. We used to wait to talk about game updates until we were certain we could meet our deadlines to avoid letting players down if we changed our plans. No longer. We’re not just listening, we are doing,” Barrett stated.

Bungie is rolling out a new update to “Destiny 2” towards the end of this month. The January 30 Update will expand the Masterwork system to include armor, and Bungie said the Masterwork Armor is going to provide increased damage reduction when players are using Super. Just like Masterwork Weapons, players can upgrade an armor to Masterwork by spending Masterwork Cores and Legendary Shards.

Bungie teased that the January 30 Update will add a new Ghost with Raid-specific perks that will likely drop from the Leviathan and Eater of Worlds final encounters. The company also confirmed that it is planning to create and rollout other rewards for players. “We intend to return to creating more Raid and other activity-unique rewards in the future.”

Speaking of Raid rewards, Bungie is updating the system behind this to ensure that the rewards will be “more unique” and “interesting.” “Destiny 2” is getting new mods that feature Raid-specific perks. Bungie added that fans can expect rewards to drop from each major encounter. In addition, Leviathan and Eater of Worlds armor and weapons will henceforth be sold directly by the Raid vendor.

Come February, a new major update is rolling out to “Destiny 2” and this one will introduce new armor and weapon mods and replace the current time limit mechanic of Nightfall to Strike Scoring. Bungie also teased that the PC version’s Tower is getting a text chat feature.  Plus, game mode rules will be modified to increase the pace of power ammo acquisition and gameplay in Quickplay.

Barrett also explained the content categories to make sure that players know the type of content they have access to in “Destiny 2.” For those who have access to purchasable updates called Expansions, they have the privilege of getting a new Story, Destinations, and Gear. They also have access to new Crucible, Strike and Raid Lair content. On the other hand, the Seasons category refers to content that is readily available to all players at no additional cost. Meanwhile, Eververse is the category that has electively purchased or earned content.
