Samsung releases a new security update each month. The purpose of these updates is to increase the security level of a device and make it less vulnerable. Recently the Canadian units of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus were the ones that received the November security update. Samsung also released this update in India and the United States.
Now it appears that a new security patch has been rolled out and this time it’s the one for December. It appears that the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) is the smartphone that has this update, and no other Samsung devices have received it so far.
What does the December security update bring?
This security update is quite hefty, weighing in at 196 MB and it comes with version A510FXXU4CQL1. You won’t need to manually install the update since it is an Over the Air (OTA) type update. Right now it appears that this update is available for the phones from Netherlands so you should receive it if you live there, or if your smartphone has been bought from there.
However, the December security update does not come with any major changes that can be noticed. After you update your device and take a look at the security software you should see “December 1” mentioned under it.
Installing the update
While security updates don’t usually bring noticeable changes, this does not mean that they are not very important for your device. These updates are meant to bring some under the hood improvements that are not visible.
Therefore, if you want to enhance the performance of your smartphone make sure that you install these updates. Before installing the December security update make sure that you have a stable Internet connection, as well as a charged battery.
