Sony is releasing a retro classic on PS4 later this week.
The publisher is finally releasing another retro theme for the PS4.
After releasing a PlayStation One inspired theme as part of the console’s Anniversary celebrations a few years ago, many gamers were surprised the company didn’t release any other retro-inspired themes afterwards.
That’s all set to change this week, though, when Sony releases a PS2-inspired Retro Clock theme for the PS4.
The theme basically recreates the PS2 dashboard on Sony’s newest console, with behaviours and formations designed to closely mimic the BIOS you’d find back on the PS2 console.
The theme also contains the classic clock that PS2 fans will remember from Sony’s now-retro console.
It’s worth noting that the theme won’t be a complete recreation of the original theme: the creator of the project, Truant Pixel, notes it can’t use the PS2 logo due to licensing restrictions, for example.
You can see the theme in action below.
This comes after Sony at long last revealed the PlayStation Plus December 2017 lineup of games.
True to the earlier leak it does indeed contain PS4 games Darksiders 2 Deathinitive Edition and Kung Fu Panda: Showdown of Legendary Legends.
“Well, here we are folks, it’s very nearly that time of year again and with only one month of the year to go, we hope that 2017 has been good to you and that you’ve got some well-earned downtime to look forward to.” explained the new PlayStation blog post, before revealing the new titles players can enjoy with some of that free time.
In addition to the leaked two, PlayStation Plus subscribers can also pick up the following games this December:
• Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition (PS4)
• Kung Fu Panda: Showdown of the Legendary Legends (PS4)
• Until Dawn: Rush of Blood (PS Plus bonus – PS VR Required)
• That’s You! (PS Plus bonus – PlayLink)
• Xblaze Lost: Memories (PS3)
• Syberia Collection (PS3)
• Forma 8 (PS Vita & PS4)
• Wanted Corp (PS Vita)
The games will be available to download from 6th December next week.
In the meantime, there’s a little over a week left, if you still haven’t picked up everything from November’s line-up.
Here’s an overview of what you can expect:
Darksiders 2: Deathinitive edition – Metacritic rating 72
Darksiders II follows the actions of Death, one of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse, in a tale that runs parallel to the events in the original Darksiders game. This journey propels Death across an expansive game world as he tries to redeem his brother, War, the horseman blamed for prematurely starting the Apocalypse in Darksiders.
Kung Fu Panda: Showdown of Legendary Legends – Metacritic rating 63
It is an era of Kung Fu heroes, warriors, and most significant of all, Legendary Legends. Fight alongside Po, Tigress, Monkey, Tai Lung, Master Shifu, and all of your familiar Kung Fu Panda characters to compete in the Showdown of Legendary Legends. Up to 4 players brawl in iconic locations throughout the Valley of Peace and beyond. Compete in an epic Tournament in which all Kung Fu warriors contend for honor and glory.
